Private Prosecution

Private Prosecution

We solve problems for people, problems that law enforcement and prosecuting agencies either cannot, or will not, resolve for them.

In a modern world, that is becoming increasingly dangerous, law enforcement and prosecuting agencies are overstretched. In many places, law enforcement is intentionally pulling back on their services, not wanting to answer calls or investigate many cases. Law enforcement sees many cases as not meriting their strained resources, or detectives feel compelled to move on to new investigations, if they cannot solve crimes quickly.

We work with teams of the most experienced investigators and detectives to fill this void and provide justice to victims. We investigate crimes, solve them, and package them for law enforcement and prosecutors to file and prosecute. Then we follow these cases through the court system, to assist law enforcement and prosecutors in obtaining justice. We obtain justice and provide closure.

We also resolve cases for victims who cannot go to law enforcement for help, perhaps due to fear or embarrassment.

35-40% of homicides go unsolved, and there are even higher rates in some places.

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATIONS

It is common knowledge that, if law enforcement does not get the evidence to solve a homicide within the first 48 hours, it will likely go unsolved. As time goes on, detectives get new homicides, pushing the unsolved homicide farther down the pile of their caseload.

Our team of experienced homicide prosecutors and detectives can use our unmatched resources to solve previously unsolved homicides. We have handled cases where victims had seemingly disappeared into thin air. We have also investigated cases initially ruled to be suicide, to find out what really happened, and give the victim’s family closure.

STALKING AND CRIMINAL THREATS

Stalking cases are usually comprised of a long series of seemingly small events, over a long period of time, in multiple jurisdictions. There may be a vandalism in one jurisdiction, a show-up at the victim’s work in another, and a threat or other incidents in other jurisdictions. Law enforcement detectives in any of the jurisdictions may be unwilling to take the lead and put the case together, due to their small part of it.

Mike Brewer and Rhonda Saunders were prosecutors with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Stalking and Threat Assessment Team, which prosecuted stalkers of celebrities and public officials. They have extensive experience in both the law and prosecution of such cases.

We take the various incidents and put them together into a case that we investigate and document. We intervene with the stalker using our security resources, if necessary. Then we present these cases to law enforcement and prosecuting agencies in the appropriate jurisdiction for filing, and follow them through the courts. We can even set up relocation and a private witness protection for victims who need relief from a persistent stalker or threat.

We successfully resolved one case where our victim was stalked by a mentally ill, drug-addled former boyfriend for over 20 years. The perpetrator had followed our victim, harassed her family members, showed up at her office, and threatened her with a gun, in multiple cities. We put a case together in a matter of weeks. got criminal charges filed, the defendant convicted, and a 10-year protective order for our victim. The defendant was forced to undergo mental health treatment, and the stalking ended.

WORKPLACE VIOLENCE

Threats of workplace violence may not be resolved by law enforcement, especially if the incidents are ongoing. Law enforcement may not expend the resources to locate and stop the perpetrator, or provide protection for the business. We have seen multiple cases where the victim business is told to call 911 when the perpetrator shows up.

Our team has vast experience in dealing with workplace violence, prosecuting the perpetrators, and restoring the victims to a place of safety. We can provide security, locate perpetrators, obtain arrest and prosecution, and stop the threat.

FRAUD

Victims often fail to obtain justice in fraud cases, where the cases are complicated and the amount of loss not enough to get prosecuted. Law enforcement agencies do not want to take these cases, which require a great deal of work.

Our experienced fraud prosecutors and detectives can take the time to investigate and put these cases together for filing. Then we determine the appropriate jurisdiction, and present the case to the law enforcement agency and prosecutor’s office, “wrapped up with a bow.”

EXTORTION AND BLACKMAIL

Victims often get blackmailed through the use of embarrassing material, such as extra-marital affairs or other things that the victim does not want to come to light. As a result, these victims do not want to go to law enforcement, which would reveal their secret, possibly to their loved ones, and cause the very damage that they fear.

We have extracted multiple victims from the clutches of their blackmailers. Our team of experienced prosecutors, law enforcement officers, and military veterans develop tactics and strategy to solve each unique case.

KIDNAPPING AND MISSING PERSONS

Law enforcement typically puts a great deal of effort and resources into kidnapping and missing persons cases. These cases may exceed even their ability and resources, however, especially as the cases drag on and their caseloads of newer cases overtake them.

We have used the vast resources of our experienced investigators and their vast network of contacts to locate kidnapped and missing persons, and developed plans to recover them. That includes foreign countries, where victim families otherwise have to rely on the U.S. government. We have, for example, located and recovered a kidnapped child in a foreign country, to which the non-custodial parent had taken the child. We leave no stone unturned.
